MOB (man-overboard) Training Exercise

Date published: August 8, 2025

Our annual MOB exercise takes place every summer. All coxswains and boatman undertake MOB training every six months. The main training exercise in the summer consists of all boat crews and staff in other roles around the port, being involved. It was through our continued collaboration with Newhaven RNLI, that we could use their MOB dummy,  nicknamed “Dead Fred”.

MOB training with the RNLI and Pilot Vessel in Newhaven harbour

Any MOB situation requires immediate action to ensure the safety of the individual in the water. Our exercises with our pilot vessel crews are essential to ensure safety, build confidence and refine recovery techniques.

Friday’s exercise culminated in a lunch for all our employees and their families outside the offices on East Quay.
