All vessels of 49m and over, all vessels under tow and all vessels carrying dangerous goods, are subject to compulsory pilotage. A minimum of 12 hours’ notice is required for a pilot.
Pilotage is available 24/7, 365 days a the year and is compulsory for vessels longer than 49m. Where a vessel is towed, the total length of the towing and towed vessels and the tow line is taken into account.
Any vessel that is carrying dangerous or polluting goods or has been risk assessed by the Harbour Master as a special case also requires a compulsory pilot.
