Be flood ready with the new Flood Action Online website
Date published: October 19, 2026
Following Flood Action Week in October, Newhaven Port is highlighting Flood Action Online, a new government website bringing together trusted information to help residents, businesses and communities understand their flood risk and prepare.
Around 6.3 million properties in England are in areas at risk of flooding. This summer’s dry weather doesn’t remove that risk, and as our climate changes, it’s important to be prepared. It’s worth knowing this website exists as, you may think this won’t happen to me, but you could be on holiday or it could affect a member of your family and some basic knowledge will go a long way.
Flood Action Online brings useful services and practical advice together in one place, helping you to:
- Check the long-term flood risk for your home or business.
- Sign up for free Environment Agency flood warnings.
- View current flood alerts, warnings and the five-day flood forecast.
- Make a flood plan and find out how to prepare your property.
Flooding can have lasting effects on homes, businesses and people’s wellbeing. Taking a few simple steps can help reduce damage, keep people safer and support a quicker recovery.
Flood Action Week may be over, but preparing for flooding matters throughout the year.
Visit Flood Action Online to check your risk and start preparing today.
