Port of Tyne Innovation Week: Insights for a Greener Future at Newhaven
The recent Port of Tyne Innovation Week brought together port leaders, technology partners, and industry innovators to explore the future of maritime operations. The 3-day event, at the BT Tower in London and at the Port of Tyne, showcased cutting-edge ideas in digitalisation, sustainability, and port-side efficiency, offering a valuable platform for collaboration across the UK’s port network.
Gary Milan, Safety, Health, Environment & Operations Manager attended the London programme and highlighted its value for shaping Newhaven Port’s strategic direction.
“For me personally, it’s a great opportunity to share ideas with colleagues from other ports, to meet leading industry innovators, and to see how these can be applied to achieve the decarbonisation aims of Newhaven Port in the short, medium, and long terms.” — Gary Milan
Innovation Week sessions focused on practical pathways toward net-zero operations, from emerging clean-energy solutions to automation and smarter data systems. These insights directly support Newhaven Port’s commitment to reducing emissions while improving efficiency for customers, operators, and the wider community.
With collaboration at the heart of the event, Port of Tyne Innovation Week continues to play an important role in accelerating positive change across the UK maritime sector, and Newhaven is proud to be part of the conversation.
